I love the way Leia’s body language speaks for itself in this photo – her tail is up, her ears are forward and she has one paw placed demonstratively on Tuisku’s shoulder, saying hey boy, I’m the boss around here.
Leia, Thunder and Tuisku in 2006.
Hilary is definitely more of an outdoor girl than a house dog, and I think this photo tells a story. Hilary loves to visit indoors but after an hour or so she starts to wonder what the other dogs are getting up to outside and climbs up on the kitchen sofa to take a look. Hilary is curious and inventive, and always eager to be with her friends.
The northern coast was hit by a storm during the weekend and we got stuck in a snowdrift on our way home from Hilary’s puppy class on Saturday afternoon. It was an eventful evening but all went well in the end. The heavy snowfall continued on Sunday and we spent a few hours shovelling out the area in and around the dog pens to be able to open the pen doors and prevent the dogs from jumping across the fence. The storm blew over during the night and this morning we woke up to a beautiful sunrise and took Tuisku and the pups out for a walk on the lake. Isn’t it typical that the sun is shining from a clear blue sky when you have to stay inside and work…my dad used to call it “Monday weather”…
This picture always makes me smile; Jeti playing the flute and Tuisku diggin’ the music. Jeti was a truly remarkable dog, sadly she’s no longer with us but is always in our hearts and in our thoughts.
Jeti, we miss you clever girl!
Found an old photo in my archives – Leia and Tuisku in wet spring weather back in 2006. For some reason this photo really makes me miss Lapland….I must make a trip up there soon!
